The Sunni Side of the Street

According to the Sunnis, everyone but them are infidels. The Shi'ia feel the same way, but with the exception of Iran they aren't trying to murder everyone else. Hell, according to the Sunni leaders in Iraq, even Sunnis who vote are infidels!

This leads me to what really seem to be the only two solutions over there. Option 1 would be to let the Shi'ia and the Kurds round up all the Sunnis and put them in camps - just as the other arab nations did with the Palestinians. Every time a bombing or shooting takes place, remove some of those in the camps - permanently.

Of course, there's the second option. With the Kurds in the north and Shi'ia in the south, Option 2 would open up a lot of land in the center of the country. If you can't get along, get it on.

The nicest thing about Option 2 is that it would be strictly an internal national matter - just like Rwanda or Zimbabwe, so the U.N. wouldn't say boo about it. It would also get rid of the need to build all those camps in Option 1.

Of course, if you see a third option - or think I'm being overly harsh - I'm always open to convincing (but you'd better have a damn good argument!).

Can It Happen Here?

I was just reading the column by Charles Krauthammer at Town Hall where he talks about how, in his opinion, what happened in London can't happen here. He believes that America has done a much better job of assimilating racial, religious and ethnic groups. Great Britain, on the other hand, and Europe in general, hasn't really made an effort towards assimilation.

In the 1950's or 1960's I might have agreed with him, but not now - and not for the last 30 or 40 years. The general viewpoint of this country was that you can keep your culture and language in your home and neighborhood, but once you left that group you'd better know some English. To this day you can go to just about any major U.S. city and find neighborhoods where the local shop signs are in Greek or Hebrew.

Slowly over the last several decades, groups coming to America have been pretty much encouraged to ignore our way of life and just to continue to do what they did back in their home country - particularly if their heritage is Hispanic. I can remember when the public phones started giving instructions in Spanish as well as English, and it stunned me. Even back in my 20's I couldn't understand why they did that.

From that point forward, the Hispanic community has had no real incentive to meld their culture into ours and others coming here have taken their cue from this. Particularly those with an axe to grind, like the Serbs.

As a result of this we end up with the Whabbi madrasses paid for and nurtured by the Saudi royal family which teach that all who are not of their religion are infidels who have no right to life. While our general population has been unaware of this, our government has indeed known and done nothing, for fear of being seen as discriminating against them.

Can anyone else out there remember when having discriminating tastes was a good thing? Another word we've lost.

In the meantime, I agree with what Mr Krauthammer has to say about our security checks. Unless every person is strip searched every time they leave the house we will never catch every possible terrorist, but that doesn't mean you can't target those most likely to nurse a grudge against our way of life.

Otherwise you're just pissing your money away for no result - and you'd better believe our enemies know this and are gladly taking advantage of it.

The hate and venom dripping from this really has to be read to be believed, but I give you two warnings:

** Pay no attention to the fact that, since this is a Top Ten list of people to hate, George W. Bush shows up in positions 2 AND 4. Ignorant shits can't even get that straight!

I've Been Thinking ... ...

... and that's a phrase that sends grown men running and screaming.

Over the past three weeks or so - at least since the first London bombings - there's been many, many people from all sorts of western countries saying that the Muslims living in those countries who preach hate should be deported or jailed.

If someone is born and raised in a country, where do you deport them to? In the U.S. we've shown no hesitation in stripping the citizenship of suspected Nazis; why would doing this to Muslims be a problem? As far as that goes, why not round them up and put them all in a camp like the Japanese Americans were? I guess the main problem with that would be the escapes.

Muslim fanatics? Muslim extremists? Even Muslim terrorists? Nope - just Muslims doing what all good Muslims should.

Scared yet?

S&G - Sort Of

It seems that Ann Coulter isn't going to be jumping on the John Roberts Society Band (thanks, Jimmy Buffet) Wagon in a hurry. Matter of fact, she seems to be downright pessimistic about him, pointing to seven previous Republican appointees. Has she found a trend?

Once again, the letter writers to the Winston Salem Urinal are calling for Karl Rove's head (or other body parts) because "Everyone knows he did it." And just how do we know this? Because Joe Wilson and Howard Dean say he did. These are not two people I'd be rushing to get letters of recommendation from. And should Bush actually can Rove, does anyone really think he's not going to be making any phone calls?

Speaking of the Wilson-Palme-Rove-Novak (and on), now it looks like the Democrats are trying to get John Bolton tied up in that - could he be the leak? Could Teddy Kennedy be a member of the WCTU??

Going back to the Urinal, one of it's sister papers here in NC got caught doing some creative reporting. They have a 'your opinion' type column and were caught making up the people and the quotes. Well, I'm just full-blown shattered! Just wait for the press to get a free ticket to "protect" sources. That will allow them to make up anything; report anything; since they can just say they got it from a "confidential source."

Is it Just Me? Or ...

Should those goats offered for Chelsea Clinton be highly pissed - and feel undervalued?

Is this "One from Parent A, two from parent B" crap in Mass. just that - crap? Unless both of these "parents" can show a DNA link, of course.

Has CA really started a no smoking policy in their prisons to lower health costs? Right - so all the uptight and violent people will really chill out without their smokes and not double the number sent to the infirmary?

Has Howard Dean gone into vapor lock again? So it was Bush's "conservative Supreme Court" that ruled on eminent domain - only no one on the court has been appointed by Bush, and it was the Liberal justices that said take the money and run!!

I'm Back

Yeah, it's been almost a week. I've been busy - domestic duties, travelling to my Blogmother's place, and just all-around pain.

As y'all are aware, the terrorist, murdering scumbags have been busy - go see Jen Martinez for a fairly complete run-down. The one that gets me is the guy the Brits shot.

The Brit police is falling all over themselves apologizing for shooting that asshole, saying that he had nothing to do with any terrorist plots. What I want to know is:
Why was he running from the cops?
Why was he wearing a heavy, padded coat in July?
Why was he running?
Why did he jump the turnstiles going into the subway?
and, finally,
Why was he running?

In the current atmosphere of nervousness around the subways in England, the only thing I can think of is that this asshole was trying to play head games with the cops and it backfired big time. Trying to fuck with the cops about playing terrorist is just about the quickest way to commit suicide there is over there - and no, they don't have the ACLU or our Bill of Rights. So sad.

Meanwhile, here in the Land of the Perpetually Offended, New York has been randomly been checking bags on the subways and the cry of "Profiling" goes up. The illegal Mexicans in the States have the audacity to scream "Racism" over border patrols that are giving food, water and medicine to those coming over the border.

Everyone here, in Great Britain, in Europe and elsewhere are sanctimoniously pointing at Iraq as the source of all this. Their ignorance would be laughable if it wasn't so pitiful. BinLaden and the others have been on our case since August of 1990, when the Saudi's invited us into their industrial-sized box of kitty letter. Us heathens being in the Muslims House of Horrors is what did it - but why aren't they on the Saudis for inviting us in? Do you think it might have something to do with their madrasses and their money?

Or am I just being cynical again?

Happy Anniversary, Teddy!

It was on this date in 1969 that Teddy gave Mary Jo swimming lessons. She was a slow learner. I notice that Teddy's been very quiet since his trip to Gitmo last week, hasn't he?

While we're at it, speaking of Dhimmicrats, can we get Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Howard Dean to decide which side they're on in the war on terror - then let the rest of us know?

And getting Bill Frist, Dennis Hastert and what's left of Karl Rove to decide if they're really Republicans would be a real treat, too!

Also - can we get CAIR or some other Muslim group in this country to say that some of the Muslims - mostly the ones blowing themselves and others up - are doing bad things? You know, nothing too severe.

Point Scoring

So - Karl Rove is in the shit. As was explained by some Dem talking head, IF he did this and IF he did that and If ... ... well, they he must be fired and have his security clearance revoked. Joe Wilson apparently doesn't give a shit if Rove did anything wrong or not - He hopped up to the microphone to demand everything but Rove's head on a stick.

The really impressive part of that was, while you could see Chuckie Shumer's hand up Wilson's ass, you could barely see his lips move.

Now, I couldn't care less about Rove, his job or his clearance. If he's guilty (appears doubtful) then hang his ass. Simple. I'm not a Republican anyway.

What I haven't yet figured out is where this righteous indignation was when Sandy Berger was helping himself to the National Archive's documents? Where was this righteous indignation when Hillary's billing records magically appeared? How about when Clinton had those 900 FBI files? Or when the White House Travel Office was purged?

The same people who have been trashing this nation for years and supplying our enemies with hope have suddenly wrapped the flag around themselves because they see a chance to score political points. Well, the real world doesn't give a damn about points - not when we should be showing the world a united stance on terror and the religion that demands it.

The Bill of Rights?

People wonder how we could ever protect ourselves against a bombing by home-grown terrorists like happened in London. Perhaps if our Bill of Rights was restored to mean what it was written to mean we would stand a chance. For example:

Amendment I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof (Christian religions are exempted from this); or abridging the freedom of speech (unless that speech might be interpreted as being hurtful or demeaning or hateful), or of the press (unless you print a treasonous article and are hiding the identity of the source); or the right of the people peaceably to assemble (unless you are a male organization - or worse, a Boy Scout), and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (OK - I think this one still works).

Amendment II. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (this right no longer exists - see New York's Sullivan Act).

Amendment III. No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law (this amendment is just as vital and fresh as the day it was written!).

Amendment IV. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures (unless the police want some DNA or blood for DUI testing), shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Amendment V. No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself (except when DNA, blood or breath are needed by the police), nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use (unless a better tax base can be located), without just compensation (this can be defined as "nothing").

Amendment VI. In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed (unless that jury isn't multicultural, in which case the verdict is voided), which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him (unless said witness is a red-light camera or other item of this type); to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Amendment VII. In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law (another amendment as vital and necessary as the day it was written).

Amendment VIII. Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted (insulting or demeaning language is construed as cruel and unusual).

Amendment IX. The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people (unless we want to).

Amendment X. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people (oh, how we laughed!!).

Man gives confession in filmmaker's death
His religion motivated him to kill, he says

The Muslim extremist on trial in the killing of filmmaker Theo Van Gogh confessed yesterday, saying that he was driven by religious conviction. "I don't feel your pain," he told the victim's mother.

Mohammed Bouyeri stunned the courtroom when he said: "If I were released and would have the chance to do it again ... I would do exactly the same thing.

"What moved me to do what I did was purely my faith.... I was motivated by the law that commands me to cut off the head of anyone who insults Allah and his prophet," he said.

Bouyeri, 27, faces life imprisonment in the killing Nov. 2 of van Gogh, who was shot, stabbed and nearly beheaded in Amsterdam. A verdict will be handed down this month.

At one point, he spoke to the victim's mother, Anneke. "I have to admit I don't have any sympathy for you," he said. "I can't feel for you because I think you're a nonbeliever."

The killing is believed to have been an act of retribution for Van Gogh's film Submission, which criticized the treatment of women under Islam.

Lead prosecutor Frits Van Straelen told the court that Bouyeri would kill again unless he is locked up for life.
"The accused preaches a message of hate and violence," Van Straelen said. "He preaches that anyone who thinks differently can be killed ... He is and remains a danger to our society."

The killing of Van Gogh, a distant relative of the painter Vincent Van Gogh, led to a wave of retaliatory attacks on mosques in a country once renowned for its tolerance. It also led to a national debate about the integration of Muslims, who make up 6 percent of the Netherlands' 16 million people.

Bouyeri was born in Amsterdam to Moroccan parents and became increasingly radical in his beliefs in the two years leading up to the murder, according to prosecutors. He is said to have attended private prayer sessions with a spiritual leader, Redouan al-Issar of Syria, who disappeared shortly before the Van Gogh killing.

He is also accused of threatening politicians, impeding democracy, illegal weapons possession and manslaughter for attacks on police and bystand-ers.

Bouyeri was arrested after a shootout. He was holding the gun that prosecutors say was used in the killing. Prosecutors say he is also tied to the crime by witnesses, blood spatter, ballistic evidence, a photo and DNA analysis.

If you read this story closely, you may have some difficulties trying to understand why the AP described this piece of filth as a "Muslim Extremist." He did exactly what his religion required him to do, as is plainly stated in the Koran.

We are supposed to be all multiculti and acceptant and tolerant of these religious differences. What's the problem? Murder and mutilation is part of the Muslim religion. Aren't we supposed to accept that as well? After all, it's not like they were (shudder) Christian or anything, is it?

On London

A wealth of information came out of England yesterday about those suspected of being the homicide bombers. FoxNews has thumbnail descriptions of the three named yesterday by London police. All were from middle class families and were either born in England or held British passports.

In the MSNBC story on this, there's a glaring error in their report - They list Kashmir as being south of Islamabad. Wrong. It's northeast. Things like that make me sceptical about the rest of their story; but to me the telling quote was from Mohammed Iqbal, a town councilor who represents the City-on-Hunslet section of Leeds: “This is not good for Muslims,” Iqbal said. “We have businesses here. There will be a backlash.”

Despite the attack that has taken the lives of over 50 Britons, the real worry is about a theoretical future ill-feeling? Read Steyn's article in the London Telegraph for his view of this - one that should be hammered into the head of every politician on both sides of the Atlantic.

As all of the terrorists in this were home grown, watching borders and checking passports were (in this case) a waste of time. There are thousands more in Great Britain and the United States who are able - and possibly willing - to do the same. We all help to indoctrinate, train, arm and point these murderers by allowing the Imams and Islamic schools to keep preaching hate. These "people" aren't teaching a false Islam, they're teaching the Koran as it is written.

As long as we tolerate them in our country we will continue to walk around with bulls-eyes on our backs.

An Oldie but Goodie

Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95 year old grandmother and comfort her.

When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

"Oh no, my dear," replied Granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring.

It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the ding and out on the dong."

She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued,

"He'd still be alive if that ice cream truck hadn't come along."

Europe and the United States

I just finished reading Mark Steyn's article in the Sunday Chicago Sun-Times where he talks about how Great Britain is actually lucky that the terrorists on 7/7 only planted four bombs. Is there any doubt that if they had planted 30 that they would have gotten away with that as well? What's to stop them?

Here in the U.S., the terrorists on 9-11 tried for four planes and got all four. They planted the bombs in Madrid that wern't found until they went off and they were 100% successful in London.

Is there any doubt that, should they want to hit us again, there's nothing to stop any terrorists who are dedicated enough from blowing up targets or taking and murdering any hostages they'd care to try for?

The United States and a few other countries are actively trying to take the fight to the terrorists, but our fears of being thought biased or politically incorrect have neutralized any of our attempts to be proactive about terrorism here at home. Instead, we must react to the terrorist acts which will come as a shock and surprise.
The only action really being taken is the TSA's laughable "security" checks at the airports. Our borders are porous, Whabbi schools and mosques teach and forment hate, our prisons are Muslim recruiting grounds and public elementary and high schools across the country are making the reading of the Koran mandatory while insisting that it's a "religion of peace".

Our "freedoms" are what have made us so vunerable. Taking back those "freedoms" that have been taken from us is the only way we will be able to defeat these cowards.

Still Breathing

I see where I haven't posted anything since Thursday evening. And I bet you didn't even miss me!

Over this last long weekend, there was some dolt who decided to go swimming in a lake here in North Carolina. Problem was, there were big signs all around the lake saying that swimming was prohibited. Bigger problem was that this particular lake was loaded with alligators. Some folks managed to fish him out so that he only had bites on his arm and chest, but if it would have been me there I would have been cheering for the gator. We need more fuckwits like that to help clean out the shallow end of the gene pool.

Like the idiots who were in Florida right by a memorial to the 14 year old girl who was taken by a shark. What were these dickheads doing? They were in the water - in the middle of a run of bait fish. Now, how bright do you have to be to see where this could lead? Like the boy who was about 100 yards off shore fishing in waist deep water - with a pocket full of chum. Why not just put up a sign for the predators saying dinner's ready?

I have a feeling that a lot of this type of stupidity is due to our wonderful culture. Things only go wrong for someone else, and all the animals out in the wild are supposed to be Disney-like safe and pettable. Anyway, if things don't go perfectly for today's folks, there's always someone to be sued, right?

Humans are small, slow, weak animals. Our only advantage over most wild critters is the size of our brains, but only if that brain gets used. When going swimming in the ocean, the moment your foot hits the water you just went to the bottom of the food chain. Our big brains, along with that opposable thumb thing we have, is only worthwhile if we have a suitable weapon and are prepared to use it.

Otherwise we're just mobile protein.

In West Virginia ... ...

A woman walks into the downtown welfare office, trailed by 15 kids...

"WOW," the social worker exclaims,"are they ALL YOURS???"

"Yep they are all mine," the flustered momma sighs, having heard that question a thousand times before. She says, "Sit down Leroy." All the children rush to find seats.

"Well," says the social worker, "then you must be here to sign up. I'll need all your children's names."

"This one's my oldest - he is Leroy."

"OK, and who's next?"

"Well, this one here's Leroy also."

The social worker raises an eyebrow but continues.

One by one, through the oldest four, all boys, all named Leroy. Then she is introduced to the eldest girl, named Leighroy!

"All right," says the caseworker. "I'm seeing a pattern here. Are they ALL named Leroy?"

Their Momma replied, "Well, yes - it makes it easier. When it is time to get them out of bed and ready for school, I yell, 'Leroy!' An' when it's time for dinner, I just yell 'Leroy!' an' they all comes arunnin.' An' if I need to stop the kid who's running into the street, I just yell 'Leroy' and all of them stop. It's the smartest idea I ever had, namin' them all Leroy.

"The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead and says tentatively, "But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not the whole bunch?"

Inquiring Minds Demand Answers!

While wasting my life watching television, an ad for Cialis came on and I noticed something about it. One of the little small print disclaimers they show at the bottom of the screen said, "Not tested for multiple attempts per dose." This left me a little confused.

Does this mean that, should you get lucky and, while having a little R&R after the 'vinegar stroke' the lady decides that "Once is Not Enough", you're game is over? Or maybe over, maybe not? Or does it mean that if you should get lucky twice within that 36-hour period, you're on your own?

And if so, can you take another pill within that time frame? If you do, what happens? Does all the blood in your body drain into your little head, causing one to pass out from blood loss? Would your penis explode? Or would it cause a permanent state of priapism, which can be a little embarrassing in mixed company?

And what about that warning about erections lasting more than four hours? Most guys would think they were the luckiest men alive, not toddle off to a doctor about it.

And that brings me to Enzyte - you know, "This is Bob!" What happens if you mix that OTC with any of the perscription pills? Would this cause the death so often mentioned in jokes - "It took the undertaker five days to get the smile off his face, and a week and a half to close the coffin!"

I think this information needs to be spread widely, since this is a subject close to the heart of many men - and not a few women. (and if my tongue was anymore firmly in cheek it would be poking out the other side - without artificial assistance)

Dick Durbin - America's Asshole

The following is an excerpt from an interview of Illinois Senator Dick Durbin by an editorial board of the Daily Herald, a suburban newspaper of the Chicago area. The rest of the interview can be read here, but I'm printing the part of the interview relating to his "apology" and what he sees as an orchestrated effort to "get him" by the VRWC - who he claims control the Mainstream Media!!

Q. Your comments about Guantanamo Bay obviously caused a political firestorm and you apologized and it seems like you’re on a bit of a semi-apology tour. One remaining question is why didn’t you run that imagery past someone, staff or fellow senators, before you busted it out?

A. Let me just say those were my words, nobody else’s, they were mine. I embellished a good speech given to me by a staffer on the issue. So I take complete blame for whatever was wrong with those words. It’s not the type of thing, in my business, where you pull over senators, and say, let me read a speech to you. It isn’t done. Nor do I expect them to do that to me or ask me to review their speeches. As I said, and I’ll repeat here, it was a very poor choice words. The imagery of Nazis, Soviets, Pol Pot and the rest of it went way beyond the pale. I thought that I was making a pretty clear reference to an FBI memo, but others did not see it that way. I have said that I apologize for those words and I feel that I should have chosen different words, better words, for that purpose.
But what an interesting reaction, when I think about it, as I look back on a half dozen, twelve words that were used. I discovered, as some others have discovered, what the other side has available that we don’t. They are so well-organized. Here’s how the process went, I can just tell ya, from speaking the words on Wednesday night, to a reaction by the White House on Thursday, public reaction against the words, leading to a variety of talk show. And the bloggers, I don’t know if you all tune into the bloggers, that is a new phenomenon, I don’t do this stuff, but there are people who sit there on these party lines all day long and blog back and forth. The Washington Times ran a front-page banner headline with my name in it for five straight days. Fox cable channel, it reached such a level of embarrassment that Republican senators in the gym, turned it off. It’s all they watch in the morning, but they turned it off because I was sitting there on this bicycle reading the paper while they were just beating the heck out of me every single morning. Even they were a little embarrassed by that. Two Republican senators, four or five days into it, who came to me privately and apologized for things they’d said about me on Fox. They said, `we just went too far. We realized it afterward.’ And what happened is, it grows, I’ve talked to people from the Washington Post and other papers, it starts growing with a life of its own to a point where the mainstream media jumps in and says, we’re following. This is the story, we’re going after the story. It’s much like the story about the television ads that were going to be run against me on the Fourth of July. We did a little digging to find out who are these people that can generate every radio station, every television station, every newspaper asking me about the television ads they’re running against you on the Fourth of July. The group, Move America Forward, is a California Republican Web site, run by a fellow named (Howard) Kaloogian. He looks for a headline and puts together a low-rate ad, one you’d never run or pay any time for. It’s just still photographs, then he sends out press releases across the state of Illinois ‘we’re running this ad on the Fourth of July to blast Durbin.’ So what was his statewide buy that led everyone to ask me about this television ad campaign against me? $2,800. It’s a joke. You wouldn’t buy one ad on a network TV station in Chicago for $2,800. If he bought a quarter-page ad in the Rockford newspaper against me, or his group did, no one would report it. But they are so good at this thing, they know just how to move mainstream media right in line to ask questions. Now why would they do it? It’s a Web site that asks for money. When any (media outlet) mentions their name, they get hits on their Web site and more money. It’s a fund-raiser. They really have developed this into a very skilful approach to moving the media in a certain direction. Now I gave them the opening. I’m not pleased. I’m not saying those were the right words. I gave them the opening and then I watched this whole thing come crashing around me.

Q. Isn’t that the way it works in Washington?

A. On one side it does.

Q. There are Republicans who get dirtied up too.

A. Yeah, but I’ll tell you what, we have nothing. We are not even in this league. We’re sitting on the outside of the stadium listening to the cheering inside. We don’t have the right-wing radio operation. The bloggers are getting started, I’ll be honest with you, on our side as well.

Q. So do you see this as almost an orchestrated attack on you…

A. Oh, it definitely was.

Q. …or do you see it as the media really doesn’t know what they’re doing?

A. It’s an orchestrated right-wing attack that brings the mainstream media in. If they make enough noise. Here’s how they do it: go into a press conference in Washington and the guy stands in the back from Fox and just screams the same question over and over and over again to the point where the other reporters are, my god…

Q. How did they bring Mayor Daley in?

A. (Syndicated conservative columnist) Bob Novak. He came to Chicago one Monday and had lunch or a meeting with the mayor. Told him his side of the story. And unfortunately, the mayor didn’t know that we had put out a statement the Friday before about this and he made some statements along those lines. He’s also the father of a young soldier training to be a Ranger. I’m sure he felt extremely sensitive about that. We talked about it afterward. I don’t think he knew the whole story.

Q. Do you feel personally hurt by that?

A. I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed by it, but I’m going to continue to work with Mayor Daley. I’ve known him for 30 years. He came to see me after this event to talk about things that the city needed and I’m going to continue to help.

Q. What sort of reaction did you get yesterday at events you marched in?

A. I went to Oak Park and Evanston, those are friendly areas anyway. Oak Park was overwhelmingly positive. I always do Evanston. I would say that was in the 95 to 98 percent positive range. There were a few who were unhappy.

Q. Were you heckled?

A. Yes, a few.

Q. What did they say?

A. I didn’t hear of much it, but I could tell by the look on their faces, it wasn’t pleasant.

Q. Does a senator normally get some heckling?

A. It’s happened. It depends on the issue. This is different. This is my own problem. It wouldn’t have happened to (Sen.) Barack (Obama) in this situation. This was my own creation, I understand that.

Q. How do you recover politically?

A. Well, let me say also, I got more negative comments yesterday from people who said you shouldn’t have apologized. ‘Why did you apologize? Brutality is not American. Torture is not American.’ Why would you apologize?’ I said, for whatever reason, I just think my words went too far. Those, of course, are people on my side of the spectrum who feel very strongly on this issue. In terms of recovering, politically, I’ve been around this business for a few years and there aren’t many of us in this business who don’t make some mistakes. If I keep working at the issues people care about, I don’t think it’s going to have any long-term impact. I’ve taken it seriously. I didn’t duck and run. I’m not hiding.

Q. Your apology is essentially you didn’t mean to offend anybody. Some people might say the danger in overstating the problem isn’t so much offending people as it is a United States senator handing Muslim extremists propaganda in the Middle East where we’re trying to forge friendship.

A. Well, I can tell I became an expert on Senate apologies. I decided to look and see how senators apologized. I never found the word ‘apology’ in any of them. What they do is regret, sincerely regret, sorry that my words were taken out of context. Those are things usually said by my colleagues.
In terms of what you have to say to finally let people know you apologize, I’m not sure what those words are anymore. Obviously, “sorry” and “apology” are not enough for some, and quite honestly I don’t think there words that will be enough for some. They’re not going to accept anything that I would have to say and that’s their right to hold their own standards.
The Al-Jazeera story is interesting. The White House started talking about Al-Jazeera on their Web site and my words almost immediately. We checked it out. That was the English version of the Al-Jazeera Web site. It wasn’t until the Republicans had made a bigger issue of this on the floor and kept their media going for four or five days that it ever reached the Arabic version of Al-Jazeera. They kept the story alive. They were the ones that pushed it, for whatever reasons. It was after all of their efforts and after all of their publicity and all the people who spoke about it that it ever reached that point. So, I don’t know where the blame lies there. I can tell you had I given the speech, made my statement on Friday night “I sincerely regret,” I don’t think it would have gone any further.

Q. You’ve had a long political career. Has it ever felt like you were in a firestorm of this magnitude before?

A. Never. Nothing even close.

Q. Hard to sleep?

A. Yeah. Tough for my family. But you know I am a public figure. You know what you’re getting into.

So now you know the truth - that Dick Durbin never really did apologise and that the right wing and the Republican party are responsible for Al Jeezera's articles. Mayor Daley's comments - the ones that basically forced his 'regrets' - was because the mayor had been manipulated by a 'right-wing columnist'.

I feel sorry for him. His levels of ignorance and self-deception have reached heights I previously thought impossible for an educated human being.

Yeah, my Blogmother forced the change - she threatened to slap me!

Natalee Holloway/Twitty - Her mommie and step-daddie are still down in Aruba, bitching to anyone who'll listen. Unfortunately that includes the MSM and a politician or two. It's not the job of the Aruba cops to keep mommie informed of what's happening in the case. Their job is to solve the case. I'm getting tired of hearing all these indignant people screaming that the FBI should have the case. Aruba belongs to the Dutch. It's their case. It's not in America. Even if it was, a missing person is not a federal case requiring action from the FBI.

Once again. Jock Chirac stepped on his dick. This time it's about British food being crap. Now, I happen to agree with him - for the most part Brit food is boiled until you can't recognize it. In the case of black pudding that's a very good thing. But Chirac had to open his mouth in public about it. And he bitches about American diplomacy.

Speaking of Chirac, he lost out on getting the 2012 Olympics in Paris. After the French voters stuffing his constitution up his ass, this is just what he needed. It'll be interesting to see what else he can fuck up.

The G8 protesters are really having a ball in Scotland, screaming for America to bail out Africa. Do they want the money sent to the governments over there, or would a direct deposit into Mugabe's account do as well? Get with it, asswipes - the problem isn't money. It never has been the money. The problem is the governments in the varied nations of the Dark Continent that give to their friends (if they give at all) and take from the rest of the country. Forgiving the debt was a useless gesture unless they're not going to lend any more.

The Minnesota State Government is still shut down - but you don't hear much about that in the MSM. Gee - do you think it might be because it's the Democrats that blocked the budget and shut everything down??

And I see where some people are all upset because they're might be a large amount of dangerous chemicals near them that a terrorist might exploit. Can I make a recommendation about that? Keep Your Fucking Mouth Shut!! Don't tell the terrorists where it is. Would that be so f'kin hard??

This is Insane

Right now there's an opening at the Supreme Court. Might be two or three more in the near future. Big deal. I doubt the Dem's in the senate will allow any of these vacancies to be filled.

Ted Kennedy, the f'kin communist drunk, has already said that he will oppose Bush's nominee no matter who it is or what their beliefs are. If that isn't a really good working definition of insanity I'd love to know what is!

Now we're going to have all Teddy's fellow travellers screaming that any of Bush's picks will overturn Roe v Wade, bring back the stocks and the dunking stool. What is the problem with these people?

I guess it's the same problem with the idiots on the right - the ones that are spending millions trying to lobby for their personal single-issue champion. Since they've got so much cash to piss away with lobbyists they could throw some of it my way - I promise I'll put it to better use that the thieves inside the Beltway will.

And the big damn deal? It's for one vote on the court. One. One justice isn't going to change abortion "rights". One justice by themself aren't going to change squat. While O'Connor was considered the "swing voter" on the Court, did anyone notice that her vote didn't stop us from losing our property rights? Hell, even the most activist of justices can't do anything unless a case is brought before the Court. Only then can their one vote out of nine take place.

There's been conservative judges appointed by Dems and activists appointed by Reps. Even the best intentioned pick can end up a piece of shit. All we can do is wait and see.

I know that this is a small thing, but I seem to remember that on Independence Day all the baseball stadiums had red, white and blue bunting around the field, just as they do on Opening Day and for the playoffs.

I just took a break from what I was doing and turned on a game, and saw that none of the stadiums shown had a display. Has the display of our national colors become passe?

Americans Losing Hospitals?

I got an email yesterday saying that Tucson area hospitals just recieved over $300,000,000. for them to treat illegals. Now, I can only verify about $160 million over a 4 year period, but that's not to say the larger figure is incorrect. Just that I can't verify it.

What can be verified is that the small hospital in Bisbee, AZ, is on the verge of closing down because it's overwhelmed with the criminals coming across the border. Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales lost $500,000 last year. Tucson Medical Center closed its trauma center because of uncompensated care. And University Medical Center in Tucson loses close to $1 million a month in unpaid care.

And this is just one microcosm of the border problem. Some of the people in that area are looking at getting an ambulance to take these illegals back to the nearest hospital in Mexico, but the last time that was tried in Nogales, Mexico, the ambulance was used to run drugs into the United States!

On this weekend, most Americans are celebrating our Nation's birth and the liberties and freedoms we enjoy. The timing is a bit off, though. We no longer have any right to property, freedom of speech has been whittled down to what is politically correct - what constitutes hate speech is anybody's guess, and when the Dimmyrats call for a "moderate" for the Supreme Court, well, their version of a moderate is a Nancy Pelosi clone.

You want to see a country that currently comes closest to the ideals on which this country was founded? Have a really close look at Australia.

A Year in the Life

Yep - it was a year ago that Obnoxious Droppings came to life, and what a year it's been.

Both She Who Must Be Obeyed and I damn near died, the presidential election came and went (so did Dan Rather) and Boston won a World Series. Last year's hurricanes, the tsunami and California mudslides.

Blog mother Indigo was the driving force in getting this started and Sailor mentored me a bit, but there's been a lot of support from the blogosphere that's kept me going.

Thanks to everyone out there who's shown an interest in this - it's still fun, so it's going to continue.

Pouting Mercenaries

Sixteen American former "private security guards" are claiming that they were captured, held and badly mistreated - "tortured" you might say - by some United States Marines in Iraq.

By what these mercs are saying, it's all because the Marines were jealous about the amount of money the mercs were getting paid.

Now, I wasn't there so I don't know the fact or fiction of their claim, but I do know that no one I have known who served in the United States Marine Corps was ever motivated to serve because of the paycheck. Of course every group of people have their share of shitbirds, so the story could be true - but then again these mercs could be the shitbirds trying to sue the government for a fat multi-million payday.

The story they're telling sounds like it's straight out of Abu Grihab, with a female present taking pictures of the "torture".

This is being investigated by the USMC, DoD and DoJ, so if there is any truth to the claims it will be blasted across the MSM. Of course, should these investigating bodies find the story is so much horseshit, we will never hear about it again.

Law? What Law?

Arthur Cheeseburger of The New York Slimes is exceedingly pissed. And for once it's not with Dubya!!

He's irritated with Time Magazine, because the people there have decided to obey the law whether or not they like it or agree with it. Just as Freedom of Speech has exceptions (yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater, flying a Confederate flag) the Federal Courts have now defined an exception to Freedom of the Press. If what you're printing directly affects National Security contrary to Federal law, you can be forced to reveal your sources.

Because some judges in the past decided that "protecting your sources" is part of the Constitution, reporters have basically had carte blanche (Ohh, Tish - that's French!) to print whatever they damn well felt like printing. Now that they decided to print the identity of a CIA operative the courts have said "hold on there, sucker - dat shit won't fly!" Since these asswipes have now run out of appeals, Time Magazine has said they will reveal the source of the story to a Federal Grand Jury. The New York Slimes says the Supreme Court can piss up a rope, they are above the law.

If you look back, you can see why The Slimes feels that way. Remember Daniel Ellsberg? Anyone out there under 30 - go ask your parents if they remember The Pentagon Papers that The Slimes printed in the early 70's.

Instead of loving honesty and truth, the New York Slimes - and Salzburger in particular - is in love with anything that will make the United States look bad; honesty and truth be damned!

Personally, I'm gonna laugh my ass off when it finally gets out that the leak wasn't from the government - it was her piece of shit hubbie - "Ambassador" Joe Wilson. And wasn't that a sordid little piece, where apparently it was his wife who picked him for what could have been an important job that he completely fucked over.
