Enough's Enough

I hadn't realized how long it's been since I last posted. Guess I must have been having too much fun.

It's time to pull the pin on this little bit of blathering. It's not so much that I've lost interest in blogging completely as it's that our Nation has gone to shit and no one seems to care.

Take for example Portland, Oregon. A week or so ago they held a "Family Friendly" anti-war protest. Part of this "Family Friendly" protest consisted of several flag burnings, someone droppping their pants in the middle of the street to shit on a burning flag, and the burning in effigy of an Army Private.

And our "Nation" has replied with exactly zero outrage.

That was the last straw for me. I couldn't give a shit who gets elected, if a bill passes bringing the troops home tomorrow or anything else. After that Portland protest, my "Give A Shit" meter has buried the needle in negative numbers.

I'll leave this up - the blogroll is handy - and who knows? Maybe one day something might happen that'll get me back online. But I doubt it.

Walter Reed - A Standard or Anomaly?

The current uproar about conditions at one building at Walter Reed Army Medical Center is interesting. It's not that long ago that no one would have given a shit about conditions - after all, they're only soldiers.

Personally, I feel very lucky. I've heard horror stories about Hines Hospital in the Chicago area and the hospital in Jacksonville, FL - but here in North Carolina I couldn't ask for better.

The VA Clinic in Winston Salem is relatively new, and the hospitals I've been to in Salisbury and Durham, NC, are old but well cared for. And with rare exception, the care provided is excellent. The staff can't do enough for you. Salisbury Hospital has free valet parking - they aren't even allowed to accept tips.

My only complaint about the local clinic is the lack of parking. they have large lots, but they treat around 15,000 veterans a day.

I go to the podiatrist, Dr Wilson, this morning - a true gentleman who treats his patients like royalty. I actually look forward to my appointments with him.

Ann Coulter vs. Bill Maher

So Ann Coulter is in the dark brown up to her neck for using the term "faggot" in regards to Former Senator Edwards. The last I saw, a faggot was a bundle of sticks and branches used as a torch, as anyone who's ever watched a Frankenstein movie would know. Of course, the MSM is all over her about this. She did make an apologize of sorts - saying it's not fair to faggots to be compared to Edwards.

Meanwhile, Bill Maher makes a statement that if Dick Cheney were dead a lot of other people would still be alive - people like terrorists, insurgents, etc. - and he gets a free pass.

Isn't it a wonderful thing that there's one set of rules that are applied across the board?
