Disappointed But Not Surprised

So the U.S. Senate decided - by one vote - that the people of the United States are not to be allowed to determine whether the Stars and Stripes deserves protection.

That one vote would not, despite the gross ignorance in this nation to the contrary, have enacted the Amendment into law. Rather, it would have then gone to the States for the people to vote on. If enough States passed the vote, then the Amendment would have taken effect.

Remember the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA)? This would have had to undergone the exact same process. Unfortunately the Democrats - once again - feel that the citizenry can't be trusted to know what's good for themselves or the Nation.
