Catching Up On Things

Sorry I'm late, folks - I was in an accident earlier this week and needed a couple of days for what I laughingly call my body to settle down.

While flipping through the channels on Monday night, I saw that the Sundance channel was airing something called "Torture". The premise of the show? A half dozen volunteers were living in a "Gitmo" situation. Torture. Right.

Ramsey Clark, who joined Fonda on one of her trips to North Vietnam and has soiled his shorts with lust for every murderous dictator since, actually compared the rape, torture and murder of just about everyone in an Iraqi village to when he was "knocked down several times (by the Secret Service) when they see some kind of threat." He also said Saddam can't be held responsible for these heinous crimes because, "he was the president of the country, he was in a war, he was a pretty busy guy." Now, how can you argue with logic like that?

"The idea that we're going to win this war is just plain wrong." So says Howard Dean, the leader of the Democratic party. I'm trying to come to terms with a person in that position making this statement while our troops are in harm's way. He compares Iraq to Vietnam - with good reason. He's doing his damnedest to slime our fighting men just like his compatriots did over 30 years ago. And he speaks for the party, right? Except for the over half that he doesn't speak for.

Some mobile dickhead yesterday decided to take on one of the air marshals. Not a real good move. If you're on an aircraft, run wildly in the aisle, say you have a bomb in your bag and then reach into the bag, you've just closed out your health record. His wife was behind him saying he hadn't had his meds. Why? If that is indeed the case, why didn't she make sure that he took them? In my mind she is as culpable as he was.

Has anyone seen the commercials Intel has been airing lately for its Celeron processors? "Want incredible entertainment experiences in your lap?" For the life of me I can't think of anything in that category that involves a computer, can you? She Who Must Be Obeyed told me to leave this bit alone and just walk away, but I couldn't do it.
