In Other News ...

According to the AP, Prince Rainier III of Monaco appeared to be losing his fight against heart, lung and kidney failure, with his doctors increasingly pessimistic about the chances of survival for the 81-year-old ruler of one of Europe’s oldest dynasties.

He made big news here in the U.S. when he married Grace Kelly in the mid-50's.

The Prince has ruled this tiny municipality since 1959, so most of his people wouldn't remember having any other leader - kinda like Cuba but on the saint end of the scale, not Castro's asswipe end.

In Iraq on Friday, again according to the AP, at least 1,524 members of the U.S. military had died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003. I'm glad they've been keeping that body count for us. As we all know from Viet Nam, body counts mean a lot.

Also Saturday, a senior Iraqi defense ministry official said Iraqi troops backed by U.S. forces detained 121 suspected insurgents and uncovered a massive weapons cache — including car bombs, mortar rounds and machine guns — during a joint raid at Musayyib, south of Baghdad.
