Insane HazMat Truckers?

Don't laugh.

According to this from Fox, the TSA is finally getting around to having the FBI do background checks on these drivers of all manner of hazardous materials. I guess that, since the Patriot Act was passed in 2001, you just can't rush these things.

The part of the story that got me was the possible disqualifications listed. "Temporary disqualifying offenses could include people convicted of some felonies or who have been found not guilty by reason of insanity in the past seven years. People released from prison in the last five years for sexual assault with intent to murder, kidnapping or hostage taking, and those with immigration violations also would be disqualified.

Treason, espionage and murder convictions are among the crimes that would permanently disqualify drivers from getting or keeping their hazardous material endorsements."

Kidnapping? Hostage taking? Insanity? Sexual assualt with intent to murder? These are temporary disqualifications?

I guess the TSA had to finish fucking up the nation's air carriers before they could spend any time on this.
