That Was Bloody Quick!
It's downright amazing how fast Congress can move when it wants to.
The bill introduced two years ago by Rep. Rangel (D) to renew conscription had languished in committee all that time. Until the Alphabet News Agencies got wind of it. Suddenly it was on the floor of the House, where it was roundly defeated by a vote of 2 for, 402 against. Had it passed, President Bush had already said it would be vetoed anyway.
My question - since Rangel ended up voting against his own bill, who were the two who voted for it?
