Feeding Tubes for Everyone
It was really nice to see Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson show up in Florida over the weekend. Whether he went on his own or someone sent for him, he couldn't have looked more out of place. Of course, he had to try and turn the Schiavo case for his own uses.
While noting that he thought the tube should be reinserted, Jackson said the government should do more to feed all hungry and disadvantaged Americans:
"I implore them to apply this same passion for Terri Schiavo to the young
infants and children dying of starvation and lack of prenatal and postnatal
care," Jackson said in a statement released by the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, his
Chicago-based group. "Those on food stamps need a feeding tube to fend off
poverty."
Rep. Melvin L. Watt, who I hate to admit is my own representative in Congress and chairman of the CBC, had to jump in with Jesse:
"I'm wondering how many children are going to bed hungry tonight and how many we could feed with (the) amount of money" that Congress has spent on the case, he
said on the House floor. "How many feeding tubes have we withdrawn by our own
indifference in this body?"
Of course, if the parent (normally) of those "poor starving kids" would give the crack a miss for a day or so and actually decide to care for their own children, it would take care of a whole bunch of this alleged starving children.
Of course I realize that this makes me a very bad man, and quite likely guilty of a hate crime because I dare to express what I believe is the truth.
