Nanny State Goes Nuts
The AP reports today that, by 2008, all new cars will be required to have tire pressure indicators which will warn the driver when the tires are underinflated.
The NHTSA estimates that this move will save about 120 lives a year. That works out to about 0.00004 percent of the population.
Just guessing here, but in a population of about 300 million, you could likely lose that many to hiccups. Or hair balls.
