Now Comes The Hard Part

I've made no secret during this election campaign that, while I wasn't overly thrilled with some of the things President Bush had done in his first term, the thought of Sen. Kerry as President scared the crap out of me. I know there are many out there who hold the same feelings about Bush, and they're view is just as valid, assuming they have hard facts to back it up. Just quoting Mikey Moore won't cut it.

By what I read and heard yesterday after the election was declared, the last 18 months or so have not accomplished anything. The Democratic leadership in both the House and the Senate are going to dig their heels in and insist that, if there is any compromise to be done in the next four years, it's going to have to be by the Republicans. After looking at an election map that is a sea of red, I fail to comprehend that point of view.

If this nation is going to accomplish anything, whether it's wins against terrorists or setting a domestic agenda, it has to be done by both parties working together. If this election showed nothing else, it showed how out of touch the Democratic party and Terry McAuliffe are with middle America. The wants, needs, desires and values of these people are not reflected in any way by the positions espoused by the Democrats. This was made painfully obvious when they put forward a candidate who was more liberal than Walter Mondale.

Now that this is apparently over and everyone leaves the site of the train wreck for more profitable pursuits, I can't help but wonder - are the charges brought up against Senator Kerry going to be followed through with? His collaborating with the VC and NVA in Paris, his admitting to having committed war crimes, and now questions about the status of his original discharge? Or were they all just brought up as canon fodder to try to shoot him down. Had John Kerry not made himself a national spectacle all this would have quietly slept. Since he made the grave error of basing his campaign or his four months over 35 years ago, Kerry himself opened all of these charges to the light of day.

I plan on keeping an eye on the ". . . . . Against Kerry" sites in the future to see what, if anything, they do. I think they'll fizzle out to nothing new that he's lost, but you never know, do you?
