I have just heard via FoxNews that Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards, has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

This is not something to make light of.

It could turn out to the advantage of the Edwards family that Richard Burr was elected over Erskine Bowles for Edwards' vacant Senate seat, because Sen Elect Burr has been a strong advocate for fighting breast cancer for many years. The amount of money he has raised for research into this, along with the legislation he has been involved with, will be a great help to anyone suffering from this dread disease.

One thought - and this was from the Little Roo - is: what doctor will take her as a patient? With John Edwards' record as a trial lawyer, that could be dicey. And I agree that no, that should not deter any medical practitioner from helping the family, but it has to pass through their mind, doesn't it?
