This Really is a Giggle
I've been listening to some of the talking heads at FoxNews getting their nuts in a knot over Sir Mick and da boys. So the Stones have a new song that bashes / slanders / pokes fun at Bush / the Administration / whatever. There's even been comparisons to the Dixie Chicks.
Wrong, dickbreath! The Stones are an elderly bunch of rockers from England who don't know when to stop playing dead - at least when to stop playing. Shit, the last thing they ever put out that I even listened to was "Rock and a Hard Place", and that was 1989.
The Dixie chicks did several things that caused whatever career they might have had to go swirling down the shitter. First their CD and ticket buying base were Southerners - not notibly really big Blue Staters. Secondly, they went into the anti-Bush rant while touring overseas. Third - and most important - they didn't have any career to speak of before they ate the barrel of the gun.
The Stones have been going for over 40 years - over 40 years!! Can you think of anyone you've ever known that's held the same job for over 40 years? So they might lose that NFL contract - I doubt that because the way contracts are written for those old farts they'd own the NFL after a breach of contract suit.
"Sweet Neocon" is a bloody long way from "Let's Spend the Night Together" in the controversial stakes, isn't it?
