A Little Piece Of Bronze

As I type this, I'm looking at a little piece of bronze.

On the front it has a crown at the top, and an engraving of Australia and New Zealand with the Southern Cross. At the bottom is the name "Ainsworth".

On the back it shows a soldier with a mule, the year "1915" and the word "ANZAC".

This little medal was given to my spouse's grandfather. He was one of the ANZACS who fought at Gallipoli in World War One. This was another of those typical situations where the English supplied the officers and Australia and New Zealand supplied the canon fodder. Even at this late stage, most of the British officers held their positions because their "class" allowed them to buy their commissions.

The slaughter there was horrendous. No one who lived through it ever spoke of it again.

Australians also fought in World War Two. They lost too many of their men on the Kakoda Trail in New Guinea and elsewhere.

Australians fought with us in Korea and Viet Nam as well. The VC and NVA hated the Aussies because their discipline in the bush was so much better than that of the Americans.

The Aussies came in on Gulf War One and are now with us in Gulf War Two. At least since the fiasco at Gallipoli the ANZACS fought under their own leadership, and fought because Australia as a nation saw something worth fighting for.

And John Kerry has the nerve to dismiss these people out of hand as being "bribed and coerced"?

For this, and so many other reasons, he disgusts me and I truly fear for America should he be able to buy his way into the White House through vote fraud.
