I Distort, You Deride

For years I was a real news junkie. Normally one of the alphabets or Headline News, whatever was on - it didn't matter.

A couple of years ago, I went off television news completely. I got sick and tired of hearing the same Party Line being repeated over and over again. Slowly I got into web news, but I normally balanced CNN against FoxNews or something similar - MSNBC didn't seem to last very long at all in my tiny little world. Combined with some of the blogs I had stumbled over, I felt I was getting a even-handed treatment of what was happening.

It has only been in the last month or so that I've really started watching Fox News on cable. I'd listened to all the whining about how 'conservative' they are and didn't want my news to be slanted in any direction.

Imagine my surprise! If the main story is about one party, someone from the other party is invited to comment. If the subject is open, members of both sides are invited! What a Concept!

The only problem I have with this format is that almost without exception, it is the Liberals who talk over their opponent, try to talk for the entire segment and cry when they don't get their way.

I'll make them a deal, though. I won't try to report straight news as long as they don't try to fuck with your heads. That's my job, dammit (well, more of a hobby, actually)!
